Weekly Photo Challenge: Single Leaf

Last leaf

Last leaf

The final leaf hangs on the red bud tree
setting sun shines through
all light is leaving
so be it.

What more did I
think I wanted?  Here is
what has always been.
Here is what will always
be.  Even in me,
the Maker of all this
returns in rest, even
to the slightest of His works,
a yellow leaf slowly
falling, and is pleased.

  1. i love the idea of a visual Rashomon, Carol!

  2. Yes, the last leaf on the tree “leaves” many on the forest floor. My reaction is very strange. But I really enjoyed the second one, because it looks cartoon-like. I expect Charlie Brown to be waiting under the tree to catch it. Happy Photo Challenge.

  4. Love the Berry quote, Carol. I’ve been taking similar photos of the leaves left behind. There’s something attractive about them.
